eLZee features

The helicopter pilot has a heavy pilot work-load, whether he is landing at a major airport or at a remote landing zone (=eLZee). The advent of EFB‚s, “Electronic Flight Bags” creates a unique opportunity for the helicopter pilot to get the needed assistance.

The navigation suite eLZee is based on advanced software techniques, creating a comprehensive environment helping the pilot to PREPARE, BRIEF and PERFORM his mission.

Landing at remote LZ‚s requires a helicopter pilot to perform a RECCE. In order to allow part of the work to be performed before the flight, eLZee Prepare allows the Pilot to create - within a few minutes - a full 3D-rendered LZ, with a precision of at least 1 meter by overlaying the landing zone with high resolution satellite images and digital maps.

eLZee Briefing, allows the helicopter pilot to create a number of procedures for the LZ and to fly them in a simulator mode. The simulator has real-time satellite and digital map capability to allow for a realistic proofing environment. Finally the helicopter pilot uses eLZee Inflight to assist him navigating the mission, in exactly the same way he experienced during the briefing. eLZee Briefing and eLZee Inflight is in fact the same software program eLZee Director, working in a different mode adapted to the purpose.

Most helicopters do not have automatic pilots and the inherent instability of a helicopter in flight requires adequate pilot attention. eLZee Inflight is fully touch-screen based, with interfaces that have been specifically designed to avoid every unnecessary “clicks”.
